I Want to Know God
Entering into a relationship with God is awesome and the best decision you will ever make – bar none! Not only can you have a relationship with God, but He longs for you to know Him. He created you, has a purpose for your life, and loves you more than you will ever know. He has been waiting for you to turn to Him your entire life!
But from the very beginning, even though Adam and Eve had a relationship with God, they didn’t want to submit to God’s rule. They wanted to live how they wanted to live. They were friends with God, but wrongly saw themselves as His equal. Adam and Eve rebelled against God, and God banished them from His presence…holy and sin don’t mix. From that point on, every person ever born…including you and me…have sinned. Again, holy and sin don’t mix, no matter who it is.
But JESUS! Jesus made a way for us to enter into God’s holy presence. Jesus is the only way to have a relationship with God. Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Jesus shed His blood on the cross 2,000 years ago to give us the ability to have a relationship with God. With Jesus we can enter into God’s presence. Without Jesus we are eternally separated from God’s presence.
Ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins and for living life according to your plan (instead of God’s). Repent of your sins and trust in Jesus as Lord and Savior. Tell Jesus that from this point on you will follow Him until you take your last breath. Tell Jesus that you will live according to His plan, which is found in the Bible. Begin reading the Bible in the book of John. Read one chapter a day and then begin having a conversation with God about what is on your heart. And then ask God what is on His heart. In this way you will start a two-way conversation with God through prayer.
You can start your relationship with God by praying something like this:
Dear Heavenly Father,
Please forgive me for my sins. Today, I make the decision to turn to You and away from my sins. Jesus is Lord and Savior and I make Him my Lord and Savior. From now on, I will follow Jesus all the days of my life. Help me in my new walk with you! I love you, Lord!
In Jesus’ name I pray! Amen!
